Our education aims at forming a solid base of notions of economics for students, as well as improving the students’ ability to think like an economist and analyze economic phenomena in various dimensions. To this end, our education; endows the students with the ability to make use of concepts and contexts of other disciplines (i.e. history, sociology, law, business administration); and the applications of quantitative techniques in economics. In other words; both the orthodox characteristics of economics and its interdisciplinary dimension are included into our education. The opportunity to offer lots of new courses renders our program flexible and open to improvements and progress.

The education of economics; compared to business administration; for example; can not be used directly in business life. Yet; the solid basis of knowledge of our students is an important benefit for business life (especially in business administration; banking and law). Especially for students who are interested in subjects like money and financial markets, international trade, income inequality, economic growth and monopolies, a formal education of economics ıs a right and an appropriate choice.

The job prospects for graduates with a BSc. in Economics are numerous. Banks, other financial institutions, insurance companies, stock exchange, futures and mortgage markets, various departments of companies, and public institutions, including State Planning Organization, State Institute of Statistics, Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, Capital Markets Board of Turkey and the Treasury. Another alternative is an academic career. It will be appropriate for students to select their courses based on their career plans –according to the sectors and institutions they would like to work in. In selecting their courses, the students may always get help from our faculty members as registration advisors.
